The past two, or so, months have been extremely busy in this Pomeroy family of two. They have been filled with lots of quality time with our most precious loved ones. They have been a time of transition as we finished up the school year and head into a new phase of life. But most of all they have been filled with joy, adventure and lots of fun! It’s not that we don’t enjoy blogging and sharing with the world what God is teaching us at each new and exciting cross road in our journey, because we do. But with all the amazing experiences and opportunities to spend time and love on those around us we have just been so consumed with being in the present moment with the people God has placed in our lives, including each other, that naturally, sharing what we have been learning comes second. As we see it, you have all the time in the world to share your story, but you don’t want to miss that story while it is being written. So we choose to be fully engaged, fully present during each moment.
That being said we had some pretty amazing moments so far this summer that we would like to share with you about!
We celebrated Matt’s 25th birthday with a surprise party that took place at the beginning of May. It was so much fun to coordinate and plan such a special day for such a special man with all of our close family and friends! And of course it was most enjoyable to finally pull off a surprise that he had almost no idea about. If only I would have asked him to stop at the store for something other than pickles on his way home from working on the farm, but for some reason it was the first thing that came to mind.
For Memorial Day we went down to Nashville, Tennessee with our Mompom, little sister Carrieli and Gram to visit with our Brother John, Sister Carrie and our three sweet nieces Chloe, Mary and Evie. We had such a great time just catching up on life together and remembering just how blessed we all are to live in a country that affords us all freedom and opportunity to become anything we feel called to. We also got to celebrate Mary’s birthday early and Carrieli and I got to take Chloe out driving for her first time on a road outside of her subdivision! Lots of great memories made that Memorial Day weekend!
A couple weeks later Matt and I took a trip up to Sewickley, Pennsylvania to support and celebrate our cousins Ciara and Savannah as they graduated High School from Quaker Valley. We had such a fun time hanging out with our family and can’t wait to be with them all again in just a couple weeks when we go to Florida for our family vacation together!
In between spending a week at our favorite place in the entire world, The Pomeroy Family Farm, and having a bunch of movie nights that included ice cream sundaes and romantic western films with Carrieli and my Mompom we also managed to put together another surprise birthday party to celebrate my mom’s 2nd 30th Birthday. We loved having all our family and friends over to celebrate her as she takes on yet another decade with grace, beauty and no wrinkles. Seriously I will be one blessed woman if I am lucky enough to inherit my moms amazing skin! No one believes her when she tells them she 6o, because she honestly doesn’t look a day over 30. 🙂 To make last weekend that much more enjoyable we had our Aunt B and Uncle Doug come and stay with us to help put the party together. We absolutely loved getting spend some extra quality time with those two, as they were also celebrating their 26th year of marriage!!! They work great together a team, treat each other sweetly and a SO much fun to be around! Seriously, what great role models Matt and I are blessed to have in those two!
Lastly, this past Sunday was bring a friend day for Kings Island Pass Members, and my sister Paige and her boyfriend Ben were sweet enough to ask us to go with them on a fun double date day! We had such a blast riding the roller coasters and reminiscing about our childhood days spent there together. Paige and Ben are one of the cutest couples together. They are always laughing and having a good time together. Anyone can tell by just looking at them that they truly enjoy each other company. As Paige’s sister and friend that is one of the things that I always hoped she would find in a significant other because to be in love with your best friend is one of the most grandest experiences there is.. and it only gets better with time.
So now you know why we had been on a bit of a blogging hiatus for the past couple months in The Pomeroy family and as you can see, it was most definitely well worth it!
Hope your summer is turning out to be a memorable as ours!
Much love & prayer,
Matt & Blair
