How are we already a quarter of the way through Annabelle’s first year of life?! It seems like just yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital and now here we are, ending the winter season and welcoming spring. And with all the beautiful blooms and green growth that this new season brings were watching our beautiful baby daughter go from a perfectly squishy, fresh, newborn to a perfectly playful, active baby. Gone are the days of newborn sized clothes (we packed them up over the weekend and I may have cried a little at thinking back to how tiny she once was lol) and on to a whole new wardrobe of the cutest 3 month sized dresses, sleepers and rompers I have ever laid eyes on! Each age has it’s own fun mile markers though, and we are really enjoying getting to interact more than ever before with our sweet Annabelle! 🙂
Measurements – Weighing in at a whopping 11 pounds and 4 ounces this month Annabelle’s weight is finally on the rise! Thank you Jesus! She had a weight check about 2 weeks ago because she was only 9 pound 15 ounces at her 2 month appointment and in that 2 week period she went up to 10 pounds and 3o ounces. Then in the last two weeks she gained a whole pound! She went from 10 pounds 3 ounces to 11 pounds 4 ounces! That’s a half a pound a week which is awesome and just what we want to see our little Princess Sweet P gaining! That puts our Annabelle at around the 25th percentile!! Grow baby girl grow! ❤
Best Moment – This month we got to hear Annabelle laugh out loud for the first time and it was magical! Since then she has been a smiling, little giggly, sunshine baby girl every single day. Not all day, every day.. but every day we get at least a couple giggles or more out of our little love bug. 🙂 It is the best sound in the whole wide world too! We absolutely love her laughter! It’s just so bubbly and joyful! Of course the first time she laughed was for her daddy. I know she loves both of us, but Annabelle seriously is such a little daddy’s girl already! 🙂 I got to hear it right after though, and it literally made me so happy I cried a tear. lol We’ve also been really enjoying her little morning conversations that I get to have with her right after she finishes eating, which is pretty much the way I can tell she is done because right up until she is full Annabelle is all about food.. but the moment she’s satisfied she looks up into my eyes, gets this big grin, lets out a sweet little gurgle and we have ourselves a little conversation about her sweet nights sleep lol
Worst Moment – I think if Annabelle could write this she would tell you that the worst moment this month would have to be when her daddy was sick with an awful cold and therefore she didn’t get to spend a lot of time with him for a few days because he wanted to do his best to keep her healthy and we therefore quarantined him to the bedroom. This also made him rest so I could take care of him and he could get better faster since Matt is notorious for pressing right on through sickness. Seriously, mans got such a great work ethic and I highly admire that about my husband, but growing up with a nurse as a mother taught me that when you’re sick it’s best to just rest and recuperate, if you can, because then you’re body actually heals faster. So for a whole weekend it was nothing but DayQuil, NyQuil, Beef Consomme, throat lozengers, hot tea, tissues, water, marathoning some Netflix from bed and lots of sleep for my Mr. Pomeroy and Annabelle’s Daddy. By Sunday he was feeling right as rain! Annabelle and I had a lot of fun momma-daughter time but do you want to know how I could tell this daddy’s girl was missing her main man… it’s really stinking cute.. hands down the cutest thing that happened all month long. When Matt came home from work on Sunday evening I was just finishing up Annabelle’s nightly feeding. She was so sleepy that I was having a really dificult time burping her since she had fallen asleep on my shoulder and wouldn’t straighten out her neck. She was like a little limp noodle. That’s how relaxed she was. lol Matt came home and popped his head into the nursery to say hi and see how we were doing and as soon as Annabelle heard his whispering voice her head popped right up and she started excitedly, looking around the room for him! Be still my beating heart! It was the most adorable thing! Of course Matt then came over and said goodnight to her. I mean how could he not after that! She needed to see her daddy. ❤ Annabelle gave him the biggest smile and let out the sweetest, most joyful coo. Matt then scooped her up into his arms and gave her a sweet kiss on her cheek and in return our girl let out the loudest burp just for him! lol I like to think that my 30 minutes of prep work helped a little with that accomplishment, but to be honest there’s a reason why we call Matt “The Burp Master” in The Pomeroy Home. lol
Favorite Things – Annabelle still loves all her old faves, like sucking on her paci and fingers when she is asleep and spending her mornings babbling up a storm with Matt and I but she has a couple new favorite things she enjoys these days as well. This past month we officially opened an in-home day care so that I can still use my talents for educating and caring for children and families while I stay home with Annabelle. So this month we discovered how much Annabelle loves to be around other kids, especially her sweet little friend baby E who is also a girl and is only a week younger then Annabelle! They have such a great time together during our days! Annabelle and baby E love talking with one another and starring at each other during their wake times. I even caught them holding hands a couple days ago and they have been doing it frequently enough that I was able to get a photo of it to capture that sweet little friendship memory! Of course we are really excited that Annabelle is going to have a buddy her age to grow up with as she gets older and even better is that E’s family doesn’t live far away so they may even end up attending the same school one day! 🙂 Other then that Annabelle has found a love for looking around at the world around her when Matt and I take her on family runs or walks as well as when we are out and about. She loves to look out the window now when we are in the car and it is really fun to watch her through the rearview mirror because her face gets so expressive lol
Highlights – Annabelle got to meet all her Aunts (they’re actually my cousins but I consider them sisters 🙂 ) Her Great Aunt B, Great Uncle and Great Nana from Pennsylvania when they came up to visit this month! We had such a fun time with them and Annabelle loved being spoiled with all the kisses, cuddles and fun girl-time! We even took her on her first outing to Kenwood Mall to help her Auntie Em find a dress for her last ABT formal! She also really started grasping things this month on her own.
Last month Annabelle would bat and an object or would grab onto it if that object was right next to her hand, but this month she began pulling things to her such was our fingers, her toys and her burp clothes when they are near her, which is pretty much all the time. If there is nothing to around her to grab then Annabelle will just play with her own hands, as she now knows that they exist! That was a fun discovery to watch her find this month as well! She also started sitting up in her bumbo seat all on her own and really enjoys playing with her rattle and talking to Momma and Daddy while doing that. Although Annabelle definitely prefers to stand with assistance versus sit with assistance. I have a feeling that once she is actually walking this little girl is never going to be sitting still lol. She loves to kick her legs and move her arms all over the place when she is in her play gym too, and she started doing tummy time with out any props, just right on her tummy and has even rolled a couple times without assistance as well.. although that is still very sporadic and unintentional. Every time she does it she looks up at me right after like “Whoa! What just happened?! Did I just do that?!” lol
Annabelle’s daily schedule also had a slight shift this month as she went from sleeping 8.5 hours through the night to 10 hours through the night! Currently she is sleeping from 9pm (We dream feed her so she sleeps straight through that feeding) to 7am every night! Something funny that we have started noticing though is how Annabelle will turn herself around through out the middle of the night. We’ll lay her down on one side and slowly, inch by inch through out the night she will have done a complete 180 and be laying facing the other side of the room lol
Last, but not least one of the major highlights of this month is that Annabelle’s Colic Symptoms disappeared during the beginning on this month once I finally went to see a Lactation Consultant and was officially diagnosed with Hyper-lactation and therefore got my milk supply adjusted. It was really amazing too because as soon as I started block feeding, at the recommendation of my Lactation Consultant to reduce my milk supply and Annabelle started to get my hindemilk and less foremilk her tummy troubles disappeared within a couple days, and she was up a little over a half pound within 2 weeks! All I have to say about that is we’re all much happier now that my body is officially synced up to meet what Annabelle needs! 🙂
Well that’s all we have for this month. We can’t wait to see what month 4 will bring!
Much love & prayer,
Matt & Blair
