Month 7 was a big one for our Annabelle Jane! Even though there wasn’t a ton of milestones the ones that she did have were big ones such as sitting up on her own, crawling, and eating her first solid foods which she loved!!
Measurements – Annabelle had a pretty big growth spurt this month which meant extra feedings and a couple sleepy, nappy days at the beginning of this month. She is now weighing about 14 pound 4 ounces. We’re not exactly sure what her measurements are though because for the first time since she has been born we didn’t have a doctors appointment to check in on her weight! That being said we have one scheduled for next month, but still it’s exciting to know that our Bananabelle, though small, is meeting medical standards for her development and therefore we didn’t have to get her checked up as often this month.
Best Moment – There was so many wonderful things that happened this month in Annabelle’s life, so many big milestones that it’s hard just for choose one best moment! We’d say watching Annabelle eat her first ‘solid’ foods was one of the best moments for sure though, which was made that much sweeter because we had some family in town that was able to experience that first of her’s with us! Since we moved into our home last year we knew we wanted to have a garden, and although there was a raise garden bed in the back it was covered in weeds and we just had too much on our plates last summer with preparing for Annabelle and other homeownership updates to take on gardening for the first time. This summer though we knew it was one of our homeowner bucket list items that we would be checking off for sure! Starting back in the spring Matt cutdown all the weeds and tilled up all the soil in our raised bed. Then he planted some yummy veggies. Fast forward to July after spending months of tending to our little garden we had a pretty good group of organic veggies growing, including Spinach. So we decided to harvest some of that yummy Spinach straight from our backyard garden, puree is and make some homemade baby food for Annabelle to try! We made it super watery so that it would be easy for her to try for the first time!.. and the verdict was… She loved it!! Annabelle literally couldn’t get enough of her Spinach! She even grabbed the spoon a few times when we weren’t feeding her fast enough and made these cute little growling noises because she was enjoying it that much!
Worst Moment – If Annabelle could write this post for herself she’d tell you without a doubt that the worst part of her month would definitely be getting acquainted with The Nose Frida thanks to her allergies. She seriously HATED when we had to use it to clear out her poor little stuffy, runny nose. It wasn’t necessarily the highlight of our month either but on the plus side it always seemed to clear her nose out WAY better then those little blue bulbed syringes.
Favorite Things – Annabelle’s new fave thing to do this month is definitely crawling all over the house! Girl is fast too! In a matter of seconds after placing her on a blanket on the floor in the living room or play room she will make her way off of it and in a few more seconds after that she’s half way across the room! She also loves her Sophie the Giraffe. Pretty much wherever Annabelle is her Sophie is near by as well.
Highlights – Like we noted earlier, there have been a lot of BIG milestones for Annabelle this month. She’s just become very mobile. Beginning with sitting up all on her own! Earlier this month we would sit her up on her bottom and with in a couple minutes she would loose her balance and topple over, but then almost over night we sat her up one morning and she sat up all on her own for 15 minutes!… then 30 minutes!.. and now can sit up for an indefinite amount of time! After that Annabelle was off to the races when she learned how to army crawl just a few days later on July 3rd! Again, it was a really wonderful moment because we had some family over for a 4th of July cookout so they got to see Annabelle take off for the first time in all her army crawling glory!.. and she truly hasn’t stopped moving since! She also started pushing up to all fours and will wiggle her body back and forth but hasn’t learned to really crawl forward on her hands and knees just yet. We’re sure that is coming next though!
Annabelle also started saying few more syllables this month. She has added “baba” to her vocabulary but still loves to say “dada” the most. We’re still waiting on a “mama” though. Annabelle has really started to enjoy songs that have hand motions that go along with them as well. Her favorites are “You are my sunshine”, “The itsy bitsy spider” and “Do, rei, mi” which we have made up our own hand motions up for. She also really enjoys playing patty cake and peek-a-boo. She also really likes to mimic us when we bang our hand on her tray on her high chair by banging her hand right after we finish.
There was a pretty fun moment earlier this month when Annabelle made a new friend, the baby on the pampers diaper box that sits in our playroom and holds a wooden block set. I was going to decorate the outside with some construction paper but after Annabelle noticed the baby on it I figured maybe it would be a good thing to leave it uncovered for now.
To wrap up this Annabelles 7th month of life she celebrated Father’s Day with her Daddy for the first time as well as went on her first camping trip with some great friends of ours! We had such a great time on that trip and made some really great memories that we are already looking into planning another one for this fall back to the same spot at Boone’s Landing!
Much Love & Prayer,
Matt & Blair
